Come and experience the benefits of EchoLight REMS and a receive a comprehensive understanding of your bone health.

What is the cost?

1. 20 MINS @ $200 US  for the lumbar spine and one hip.

2. 30 MINS @ $275 US  for the lumbar spine and both hips.

What is Echolight?

The next generation of health care. Created as a spin-off of the Italian National Research Council, Echolight is at the forefront of medical innovation.

A new era in bone densitometry Echolight offers an innovative radiation-free solution for assessing the bone mineral density and the bone quality/strength of the lumbar vertebrae and femoral neck with a quick scan using the proprietary R.E.M.S technology (Radiofrequency Echographic Multi-Spectrometry).

How REMS is Different:

SELF REFERRAL:

The cost of service is not covered by insurance, and therefore there is no requirement for a medical professional referral.

We welcome medical referrals but they are not necessary and the patient can refer themselves.

REMS vs DXA:

REMS addresses many of the limitations of DXA:

  • Calculates a more accurate level of bone density
  • Is more sensitive to change in bone density, therefore healthcare providers can assess treatment programs more frequently
  • DXA requires a change of 3-6% in bone density whereas REMS can detect changes of 0.5-1% or 400-900% increase in sensitivity
  • DXA requires about 1-2 years to see a change in BMD whereas REMS can see change as early as 3-6 months
  • REMS is not as dependent on factors such as patient positioning, machine, software, or techician differences

A REMS scan can provide a more reliable and accurate analysis of your bone mineral density and bone quality even if the following are present:

  • Strutural abnormalities caused by QA (Sclerosis, osteophytosis)
  • Scoliosis
  • Vertebral fractures
  • Vertebral deformities
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Osteophytes
  • Vascular calcification
  • Metabolic bone diseases
  • Osteogenesis imperfecta
  • Diabetes mellitus
  • Chronic inflammatory diseases
  • Harrington rods in spine

NO RADIATION:

DXA utilizes x-rays to assess bone health, REMS utilizes ultrasound to assess bone health so it is safe for everyone including pregant women and young adults (20 years old and above).

MORE THAN JUST BONE DENSITY:

REMS not only assesses the density of bone but also assesses the microarchitecture of the bone to assess the quality of the bone.

This assessment is expressed numerically in a fragility index. This value is combined with the calculated density score to produce a 5 year risk factor of fracture.

REMS is considered the leading technology for providing the most accurate fracture risk assessment available.

IMMEDIATE REPORTING:

REMS utilizes a database of over 100,000 patients to peform required calculations for a bone density score. The analysis of the received information concerning the microarchitecture is also done immediately. This allows the system to produce a complete report in less than 2 minutes following the conclusions of the exams (80 second scan for the spine and 40 second scan for the hip).

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. How Long is the Test?

- Only 20-30 Minutes depending on which test you choose.

Q. How does it work?

- Ultrasound pulses are emitted into the spine and/or femoral neck and the echoes travelling back from the bone are analyzed by the system to calculate the density of the bone and the fragility of the bone. This information is combined to produce a 5 year risk of major orthopedic fracture.

Q. How often can I perform the test?

- Because it is ultrasound based and paid by the patient, the test can be performed as often as requested. It is recommended that 6-12 months be utilized as a guideline to detect sufficient change for the bone.

Q. What information will I leave with?

The system performs all the required analyses of the acquired information and produces a report within 2 minutes of the scan being completed.

You will receive immediate answers on your bone mineral density (T-score, Z-score and BMD) Plus your bone quality with a fragility score which will produce your 5-year fracture risk assessment. Your bone scan report will be emailed to you in a PDF 5-page document within 48 hours of your scan.

Q. Do you interpret results during the exam?

- There is no need to interpret the results as the AI generated system does that immediately following the completion of the exam, the results can be reviewed with you following the exam if requested.

ADDITIONAL NEW SCREENING OPPORTUNITY:

Would you be interested in knowing if you have any issues with your carotid arteries, aorta, liver, or shoulders?

  • Carotid arterial disease and abdomial aortic aneurysm do not present with symptoms and can advance silently.
  • Your liver is responsible for more than 500 vital functions. Having a healthy liver is essential for increased quality of life.
  • Shoulder injuries out number all other joint injuries combined. Autopsies show that 60-70% of individuals 60-70 years of age have shoulder pathologies equal to MRI assessment.

With 31 years experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer and a pioneer of MSK scanning, Dave can offer these screening scans in addition to your REMS scan during the same appointment slot.

Pricing:

Test 1: Carotid Artery / Test 2: Aorta / Test 3: Liver / Test 4: Left Shouler / Test 5: Right Shoulder

  • $75 individual scan
  • $140 Any 2
  • $195 Any 3
  • $240 Any 4
  • All 5 tests for $275

** The above screening scans will only indiciate if there are no issues or if you should follow up with your doctor.

** NO DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION WILL BE PROVIDED.
