Frequently asked questions
- 01If your doctor recommended The Wellness Lab for bone strength, your next step is to book a free trial session. This way, we can get to know you, understand your bone health goals, and guide you through your first session at our bone health studio in Albuquerque.
- 02Unlike conventional strength training, osteogenic loading is focused on maximal loading of bones. It is only performed in the position where you are strongest because it’s the amount of the load, not the length of time, that triggers the natural bone-building process. This is why bioDensity sessions can be brief while still supporting a bone density program.
- 03bioDensity leverages your body’s natural ability to adapt to challenges. When muscles face heavier loads, they grow stronger and denser. This process also supports bone density and overall bone health. The science of osteogenic loading is well-documented and accessible through bioDensity technology.
- 04bioDensity is a safe, controlled method that delivers the benefits of high-impact activity without the risks of heavy lifting or jumping. Weekly sessions are designed to support bone density goals for people with osteoporosis or osteopenia, and overall health. All the bioDensity studies were performed in this way: just 5 seconds per exercise, once per week.
- 05Yes. The bioDensity device was designed to be a safe, effective, and efficient way to support bone density. During a bioDensity session, each participant is positioned in the strongest biomechanical position to allow users to produce their maximal force. This ensures that the body can safely withstand the load that is being provided in the activity. The machine is self-loaded, so each person dictates the force that is applied. Many people ask whether bioDensity is safe for osteoporosis; if you have osteoporosis, osteopenia, a recent fracture, or another medical concern, we recommend checking with your healthcare provider before starting.
- 06Your first bioDensity session takes about an hour, and you can come as you are. Flat-soled shoes work best. After that, it’s just 15 minutes weekly as part of your bone density program at The Wellness Lab.
- 07During a bioDensity session, you’ll perform four quick movements, each lasting 5 seconds, like pushing or lifting something heavy. Afterward, you might feel warm from increased blood flow and muscle activity. Within a day, you may experience mild muscle fatigue but no soreness. Many people also report a mood boost and feeling more confident.
- 08The bioDensity report is a visual representation of your force production improvement during each bioDensity session. In each of the 4 graphs, you’ll see your baseline reading along with the last 14 sessions you recorded. The report also documents your all-time increase in force production as a percentage, helping you track bioDensity progress over time.
- 09We have plans starting at $129/month. Your membership includes a weekly guided session with a session coach as part of your bone health program at The Wellness Lab.
- 10The Power Plate is a machine that delivers whole body vibration therapy using best-in-class technology. The vibration works at a high speed and transmits a wave of energy to stimulate, contract, and relax muscles in a consistent and controlled way. At The Wellness Lab, Power Plate therapy in Albuquerque is often used alongside bioDensity.
- 11Prior to your bioDensity session, the Power Plate helps prepare your neuromuscular system in just a few short minutes. Following your bioDensity session, the Power Plate helps with balance and postural control. Greater and more frequent exposure to Power Plate’s harmonic vibration has been shown to have numerous health benefits.
- 12Vibration plates are safe for most people, but certain individuals should avoid them or get medical clearance before using one. You should not use a vibration plate without your doctor’s approval if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker or implanted medical device, have cardiovascular disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or serious heart conditions, have had recent surgery, especially joint replacements or spinal procedures, or have deep vein thrombosis (DVT), blood clots, or clotting disorders.
